Went to VEG ER in Elk Grove, CA on Sunday 6/21/26. Let me start with they were absolutely wonderful! I have heard great things from friends in the vet field and I follow the VEG instagram as well. They definitely did not disappoint. My soul dog, Lilly, has kidney disease and heart disease and was fitting the symptoms for possible kidney failure. Nolan did our intake and was very kind and down to earth. Dr. Huntyr Mcmurty was Lilly’s doctor and she was compassionate, kind, caring, and listened very well. Dr. Mcmurty laid out what our options are and we agreed to proceed with blood work to check kidney values and go from there.after blood work supporting what I expected, extremely increased kidney values, Dr. Mcmurty explained our next options for hospital care or supportive care until humane euthanasia, of which we decided to do the latter since Lilly is 15.5yrs old. Overall the experience, as hard as it is to be with your sick fur baby, was very pleasant because of the wonderful care team and staff. I regret that I didn’t catch everyone’s name that helped Lilly, but each person was exceptional. All this to say it was very busy, a bit short staffed, and yet they still managed to remain calm, triage very well, and provide excellent care. If anyone needs an emergency vet I will always recommend VEG. Oh and those curious of pricing: with a sick and elderly dog I already expect to pay at least $500, and with ER vets I thought it would be significantly more, but was under $600 for an exam, blood work, medication, and subcutaneous fluids. So in my opinion very reasonable and well priced. Thank you VEG for all you do. Vets, vet techs, nurses, assistants, you are all amazing and no amount of praise can describe my gratitude towards you all. Thank you ❤️
I was totally upset and worked up when I called VEG ER, but the gentleman on the phone was incredibly kind and calm. When I walked in, I was impressed by how clean and organized the building was. The open concept floor was not what I was expecting but it was really awesome being with my dog every step of the way. The gentleman that helped us offered a bed for my dog to lay on, which was good because we waited like 5 hours. They offer snacks, drinks, as well as blankets for humans because it gets quite cold in there. Everyone there was kind and friendly. You could really tell they were dedicated to their job and providing the best experience for their patients. My princess loved being able to watch everyone walk around her and was completely content. The doctor even sat with her when we were finally seen so she wouldn’t have to be moved. :) All the staff talked to her like a baby whenever they addressed her which made me happy too. Really shows they love animals. Paid about $660 to find out she didn’t have a lot of poop in her, but the peace of mind was worth it. Getting to see how they take x-rays was cool too, even if my poor baby had to be manhandled hehe. The bill was much cheaper than I expected, which was nice. It was for the initial exam and the x-rays. Would highly recommend coming here for a transparent, wonderful experience! ❤️
Even though the outcome sadly was not what any of us wanted I have never dealt with such kind and compassionate people on both shifts as I did that night and day for both myself and my beautiful dinkerdoodles. The whole concept is amazing but the people within those walls all the way from the vet who actually answered the phone to speak with me to the vet who greeted me right at the door to the young lady who was mopping floors and took the time to check on me and every other person in between. Even the transition between shifts was smoother than silk. When I knew we had done everything we could possibly do for my beautiful dinkerdoodles And it was time to say goodbye They even made that a beautiful experience for both of us. I will never forget how something so terrible and hard was done with such compassion and beauty. Dinkerdoodles as well as myself and her two sisters missing her at home Lil Bit and Glitter Schmitter Noelle Thank each and every team member at the Elk Grove location. You guys should be very proud of yourself. Even the one they were shorthanded on the second shift the director jumped right in and became a receptionist door greeter as well as handling clients and still taking the time to check on me knowing I had lost my sister, my mother, my mother's dog Daisy and then my precious dinkerdoodles All within 40 days. When I was finding it hard to breathe myself there was always someone right there with me and it will never be forgotten and I promise dinkerdoodles will never forget any of you either. Thank you for making such a heartbreaking time so beautiful for me and my little girl on a comfortable couch with soft pillows and big fluffy blankets and such compassionate care instead of cold steel tables in a rushed environment.
Unfortunately I am a frequent flyer at Veg, I have a few dogs and when they are in pain or sick I don't wait until I can see my regular Vet. I immediately take them to the ER. In the past, dealing with ER Vets we have been turned away simply because they have no space for us. This is why I cannot speak highly enough of Veg, I've never been turned away and I get to stay with my pet. We have experienced all phases at Veg, from dealing with my 2 year old Husky/Shepherd mix who gets into everything, and although she isn't a willing participant they were able to soft muzzle her which made things better for everyone. I also took my Border mix in for what I thought was a stroke, it ended up being a bad tooth. Although, the Vet was transparent in saying they normally don't deal with tooth issues, he felt he could remove the entire tooth without a problem. I was there comforting my dog and all went well. I also took my dog there when he passed suddenly in my kitchen (he was 16), they were caring and took us immediately to a back room to deal with after life care. Lastly, in December I rescued a dog in the middle of Franklin that had been hit by a car. She was bleeding from her mouth, of course we went right to Veg. They examined her, luckily her internal organs were okay and she had a broken tooth and some minor mouth cuts. I stayed with her and discussed options for her future, the way she was matted it was obvious she was a stray. I was not in a position to take on another dog, with their love and care they took little miss, made her comfy and said they'd transport her to the shelter. She is an adorable pom, I think of her daily. I hope she's living her best life now! Thank yo Veg, you're my ONLY choice in Vet ER Care!!
Woke up Saturday to my dog having continued issues with Diarrhea w/ blood and was not able to take him to his normal vet. Did a quick google search and based on the reviews I called VEG ER and from the moment they answered the phone it was an amazing experience. Brittany, Robyn, Dr Long, and the other ladies in the office (apologize for not getting your names), EVERYONE was so friendly, helpful, understanding, attentive. Was a night/day different experience than I'm accustomed to with most vets and ER. The open concept, and being able to be with your pet the entire time…is a blessing for someone who has an animal like mine with separation and anxiety issues. Im not sure if this place is “fear free” certified but they might as well be. Because of the open concept, other animals are being seen around you and my experience was the same experience for everyone being seen, compassion across the board and everyone got the same love. You can tell everyone loves their job. I hope i dont have to visit the ER again but if I do, this is where I will be going. Somewhat of a drive from Natomas but it is worth it. They are opening an office in Roseville. They Really need to bring this open concept to normal vet practice. 5 stars, thank you for taking care of Jax. He would probably be less freaked out about going to the vet if every experience was like this.
