I had an excellent experience taking my cat for his first visit and I will definitely keep taking him here from now on. Making an appointment was easy and they have weekend availability, even on Valentine’s Day. :) The staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Dr. Manhas is so nice, professional but very personable and of course, very knowledgeable and an expert at what he does. My cat started hissing and he knew exactly how to handle him with bare hands lol. He let my cat be a cat during the exam but my cat knew the vet was the boss lol. The price was reasonable, they don’t try to upsell you anything and I can tell the vet and this company is honest and have high integrity. I completely trust the vet doc. I highly recommend this Capital Pets Animal Hospital and see you all again next time!
I have a black dog with black nails. Because of this, trimming her nails can be tricky; it's very difficult to see the quick (the vein in each nail) to avoid cutting it. I have had my dog for 6 years and have opted to have her nails trimmed at the vet each time she needs it rather than risk hurting her, and this has gone well in the past. We just moved to Sacramento, and I needed a new vet to trim my dog's nails. I called Capital Pets and made an appointment with a nice-sounding man, to whom I explained my need for a skillful nail trim on an anxious black-nailed dog. He seemed to understand perfectly. When my dog and I arrived for our appointment today, I explained our purpose again, stressing that I was there because I was afraid a groomer or I would accidentally cut my dog's quick and needed to avoid that. We then spoke to the vet and went over our needs and concerns again. After our vet consult, a tech came and led my dog away. She returned her five minutes later and my dog went under a chair. When the vet tech left the room, my dog walked out and I realized she was leaving bloody paw prints on the floor and had bled a puddle under the chair. I called for help, and when the tech came back she seemed annoyed. She took my dog away again and brought her back again after a few minutes, claiming to have "fixed her feet." I took issue with this situation, but when I brought it up with the vet, the female vet tech yelled at me and told me it's totally normal, nails bleed when you cut them, and it's not her fault she injured my dog because her nails are black and she couldn't see the quick. When I said nails don't bleed - quicks do - and that it's not okay she hurt my dog, she put her hand in my face and said "bye. You need to go." So I did. I went online and filed a complaint with the state licensing board, and now I'm telling all of you. This is the kind of place that will hurt or kill your pet and then refuse to take responsibility.
I took my cat there a few months back because she had a nasty cough. The doctor basically scoffed said nothing was wrong charged us for steroids,the cough is still there. it's a lot worse, now we have to pay a real vet a lot more when she could have been treated correctly
Seen this Vet a number of times for different dogs. I would recommend him to my family and friends. He has alot of experience and he is a straight shooter. He doesnt try to upsell me on anything. (Like many vets like to do) Prices are also very fair especially compared to everyone else in Sacramento. Will return.
I brought my two pets here on March 13th of 2020 and I had a positive experience. All the staff at the front were super nice and very attentive. The vet was a really nice guy and he was able to fit all the procedures in one day. My pup needed a deep dental cleaning and I thought we would have to come back but he was able to do it during the same visit. He explained all the procedures well, he was super nice, not pushy like others vets try to push products that you may not need. I would definitely come back to this vet. Ava and Boo liked his gentleness as well. I came back to him on April 13th because one or my babies needed immediate care. I did not have a prior appointment. I called that morning and explained that the situation was urgent and the staff checked for cancellations and they were able to fit me in within 1 hour. I really wanted to see this particular vet who is now the continuing vet for my current and future pets. I just trust him and his advice. He took very good care of my fur baby and took his time and never made me feel like he was in a rush to go to the next patient. He answered all my questions with so much patience. Super nice guy. He also called me the next day to check on my pet and his condition. How many vets do you know that will do that? None. I will continue to bring my babies here and I think anyone reading this should give him a try. I don’t think you will be disappointed.
