When I explained what was going on with my pet goat they immediately told me to bring him in. They were waiting for us and whisked my baby off to run tests and start treating him to save his life. Called back within an hour with test results and plan. Our vet called again in the evening to give an update. She ans wered all my questions so we have a plan inplace and what to expect. In the future will immediately take my pets there for severe emergencies

I had a deeply disappointing and distressing experience at UC Davis Veterinary Teaching Hospital, largely due to the unprofessionalism of Dr. Susana Miravet and the clinic's overall approach to care. My two-year-old Great Dane, Vixen, was in critical condition with suspected bloat, and the care provided was nothing short of negligent. From the moment I arrived, the focus seemed to be on financial transactions rather than my dog’s health. Despite repeatedly asking the staff to prioritize her care, I was subjected to constant demands for payment, totaling nearly $5,000, before they would proceed with treatment. Dr. Miravet displayed an appalling lack of urgency and professionalism throughout the visit. Instead of focusing on treating my dog, she spent excessive time explaining procedures and pushing for additional payments, even as Vixen’s condition worsened. Despite my explicit instructions to proceed with any necessary treatment, critical procedures were either delayed or not performed correctly. Dr. Miravet’s inability to prioritize Vixen’s care and her dismissive attitude left me feeling helpless during a highly stressful situation. Even after agreeing to every payment request and signing consent forms, the agreed-upon treatments were not carried out. When Vixen was finally returned to me—12 hours later—she was in visible pain, whimpering and yelping, with no meaningful progress made in addressing her condition. I ultimately transferred her to another emergency clinic, MarQueen Pet Emergency, where she received prompt, professional care and made a full recovery. The lack of communication, urgency, and professionalism displayed by Dr. Miravet and UC Davis as a whole is inexcusable. I felt as though my dog’s life was being held hostage for money, and the overall experience was traumatizing for both me and Vixen. I expected much better from such a reputable institution. I cannot recommend this clinic to anyone who values their pet’s well-being. Their priorities seem to be financial, not medical, and the unprofessionalism of Dr. Miravet only added to the nightmare. Avoid this place at all costs.

Have had patients for years at VMTH. Currently at Oncology and, even tho we don't like being there, the staff make it easier by being so nice when we bring our cat in for care.
